Sexual Harassment: Not a Children’s’ Game – Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Educational System and the Community
Sexual harassments among adults are widely covered by the media and are researched and treated.
However, little is researched, treated and spoken about when it comes to the beginning of the phenomenon- at early ages and adolescence.
This book, examines the initial age of sexual harassments among children and how the phenomenon evolves among children and adolescents as a form of an innocent "game".
The book offers a wide outlook on bullying and cyberbullying as well as sexual harassment and presents ways to prevent and deal with these behaviours within the educational system at an early age.
Dr. Giladi exposes the games, violence and exertion of physical power during gender role playing games by presenting cases from the education system and examines when the line is being crossed and the games turn into sexual harassments.
Dr. Giladi offers tools on how parents can become active in certain situations in their children's lives.
The book addresses, for the first time, the matter of sexual harassment among the LGBT community and raises important questions regarding our children's education: According to which social messages are our children being educated? What will happen to the harassed children once they become adults? And what will happen to them once they become educators in the Israeli society?
To meet the challenge of parenting in an age where parental authority is being constantly challenged and the influence of the internet and social media in pervasive, Dr. Giladi has founded and directs the Parenthood Academy at the NCJW at the Hebrew University.
The Academy develops programs and strategies at the national and international levels to meet this challenge. Previously Dr. Giladi served as the General and Academic Director of Early Childhood Programs at the NCJW Research Institute for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, as well as a Professional member and Academic Advisor at JDC-Joint, Israel and was also the National HIPPY Director in Israel.
Dr. Giladi is also a pioneer and recognized expert on the abuse of young children in Israel, including strategies for preventing abuse, family and community interventions and addressing adverse such challenges such as teachers, parents, children and school management.
She is the author of the book, Sexual Harassment: Not a Children’s’ Game – Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Educational System and the Community.
Dr. Giladi has holds a doctorate in sociology education from ARU University, England and bachelors and master degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
